Our Two Week taxidermy school tuition is $2500.00, which includes all of the specimens and forms needed. The following is our curriculum.

Two Week Taxidermy Curriculum


1. Game Heads - 42 Clock Hours

2. Antler Board Mount - 5 Clock Hours

3. European Skull Mount - 4 Clock Hours

4. Painting and Finishing Work - 20 Clock Hours

5. Dry-Preserving - 1 Clock Hours

6. Anatomy - 5 Clock Hours

7. Laws - 3 Clock Hours
 


Total Clock Hours: 80 Clock Hours

The tuition for our two-week taxidermy training is $2500.00, which does include all of the specimens and forms needed. During the two-week training program, students will receive a complete working knowledge in the following major areas of taxidermy.

Gameheads (42 Clock Hours) Includes:skinning, fleshing, salting, tanning, finishing, coding, form selection, anatomy and mounting. Students will be required to mount two gamehead.

Antler Board Mount (5 Clock Hours) Each student will be required to complete one antler board mount.

European Skull Mounts (4 Clock Hours) You will learn start to finish how to complete one whitetail deer skull. You will also learn how to whiten your European.

Painting and Finish Work (20 Clock Hours) Students will be taught the proper colors and techniques in using airbrush on finishing his/her mounts. You will also learn how to clean your tools. (airbrush, etc.)

Dry-Preserving (1 Clock Hour) Students will be taught the pros and cons of dry-preserving, when to use and when not to use this technique.

Anatomy (5 Clock Hours) Students will be taught basic understanding of the anatomy of each specimen mounted. This is an essential part in the art of taxidermy.

Laws (3 Clock Hours) State and Federal laws concerning taxidermist will be covered depending on the state in which they will be opening up a shop.

The tuition for our six-week taxidermy training is $5200.00, which does include all of the specimens and forms needed. During the six-week training program, students will receive a complete working knowledge in the following major areas of taxidermy.

Gameheads (42 Clock Hours) Includes:skinning, fleshing, salting, tanning, finishing, coding, form selection, anatomy and mounting. Students will be required to mount one gamehead.

Birds (40 Clock Hours) Includes: mounting, fleshing, body selection, skinning, feather placement, and finishing. Students will be required to mount two birds.

Life-size Mounts (45Clock Hours) Includes: skinning, tanning, form alterations, finishing, mounting, form selection and base making. Students will be required to complete one life-size mount.

Antler Board Mount (5 Clock Hours) Each student will be required to complete one antler board mount.

European Skull Mounts (2 Clock Hours) Discussion of whitening and preserving skull mounts. You will learn start to finish how to complete 1 whitetail deer skull. You will also learn how to whiten your European.

Basemaking (8 Clock Hours) Students will receive instruction for the creation of a natural base for his/her mounts.

Painting and Finish Work (20 Clock Hours) Students will be taught the proper colors and techniques in using airbrush on finishing his/her mounts. You will also learn how to clean your tools. (airbrush, etc.)

Dry-Preserving (1 Clock Hour) Students will be taught the pros and cons of dry-preserving, when to use and when not to use this technique.

Anatomy (5 Clock Hours) Students will be taught basic understanding of the anatomy of each specimen mounted. This is an essential part in the art of taxidermy.

Snakes (16 clock hours) Students will be required to skin,flesh, preserve, stretch and put on board. All students will be required to mount one snake.

Repetition (51 clock hours through the course) Each student will have the opportunity to practice on their weak areas of Taxidermy. Repetition is the key to becoming a great Taxidermist. The more you practice the better your work will become.

Laws (3 Clock Hours) State and Federal laws concerning taxidermist will be covered depending on the state in which they will be opening up a shop.

Specimens


Gameheads: Two Whitetail Deer.
Birds: Two Pheasants or pen raised Mallard, Drake & hen
Lifesize mounts: (one of the following) Badger, Coon, Bobcat or Fox.
Board Mount: One Whitetail Deer antler board mount.
European Skull: A bobcat, Badger or a Coon, Whitetail, Fox, snake, Rattlesnake

Students must be at least 16 years of age, be able to read and write English, and have reasonable manual dexterity. Any student under 18 years of age must have written parental or guardian consent to attend.

The cost of each course includes: supplies, tools, equipment bases and all specimens.

A 50% deposit is required before enrollment. The remaining 50% of tuition is due on the first day of class.

Refunds will be given to students who complete 50% of the scheduled taxidermy course. If a student withdraws prior to completing 50% of the scheduled course, he will only be eligible for money calculated on the time remaining in the courses that they have not attended.
