Tuition & Course info for Texas Hill Country School of Taxidermy Courses

Taxidermy Course Descriptions

Six week course - $5,200:

Snake This class will cover skinning, tanning, and stretching of the snake skin. The skins will be mounted on felt or wood. One (1) snake per person.

Birds – This class will cover proper skinning techniques, preparations of skins, crafting of artificial bodies, measuring, anatomy, mounting and finishing. Two (2) birds per person.

Game Heads – This class will cover measuring, skinning and preparation for tanning. Students will choose between mounting a Whitetail, Blackbuck or Axis. Two (2) game heads per person.

Life-size – This class will cover preparation, measuring, skinning, choosing and altering forms, mounting and finishing. Students will choose a bobcat, raccoon or fox. One (1) per person.

Antler plaque – One (1) per person.

Skull or European mount – Mount will be done with what is in stock at the time. One (1) per person.

 

Two week course - $2,500:

 

Game Heads – This class will cover measuring, skinning and preparation for tanning. Students will choose between mounting a Whitetail, Blackbuck and Axis. Two (2) game heads per person.

Antler plaque – One (1) per person.

Students must be at least 16 years of age, be able to read and write English, and have reasonable manual dexterity. Any student under 18 years of age must have written parental or guardian consent to attend.

The cost of each course includes: supplies, tools, equipment bases and all specimens.

A 50% deposit is required before enrollment. The remaining 50% of tuition is due on the first day of class.

Refunds will be given to students who complete 50% of the scheduled taxidermy course. If a student withdraws prior to completing 50% of the scheduled course, he will only be eligible for money calculated on the time remaining in the courses that they have not attended.
